Attached is the mini lesson in which I created an outline for how to teach third grade students to use evidence from the text to make claims regarding characters’ traits. I reused an old lesson plan template from one of my previous Special Education courses here at SCSU to create this mini-lesson. I have also attached the graphic organizer that I would use while actually teaching this lesson. The example text I used was “The Tortoise and the Hare” but this lesson would be equally effective with a different story, as long as the students were familiar with the different text.
